“李默, you have to make the right choice.” his voice barely above a whisper.

The door creaked open, and in came a familiar figure—a man with sharp eyes and a calm demeanor. He stood at the threshold, looking down on him like he was just another cog in the machine.

Li Mo felt his heart sink as he looked up at the stranger. “Go out there and take your chance.”

But without hesitation, Li Mo turned around and started walking towards the direction of the city’s edge. He knew it was a gamble, but it was the only way to find true freedom.

As he walked alone in the pouring rain, he couldn’t help but wonder if he would ever see that man again. Life had always been predictable for him—a paycheck, bills to pay, and responsibilities to fulfill. But this night was different.

He reached out his hand towards the taxi waiting outside the hotel. “Here’s the money.”

The driver hesitated before taking it. “You look like you’ve lost something important.”

“Don’t worry about anything.” Li Mo pushed his hand back firmly. “This is just a little trip.”

As the taxi drove away, Li Mo stood at the curb for a moment. The city was vast and cold, but there was something else that filled him with an indescribable sense of freedom.

He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small vial of liquid. It had been years since he last used it, but the familiar taste still lingered in the back of his mind.

“Take care.” The driver called over his shoulder.

Li Mo turned around just in time to see another car pulling up outside the hotel. He raised an eyebrow at the man inside before turning and continuing on his way.

Life had always been unpredictable for him. And this night, he knew without a doubt, was going to be different.
